Blog Response #4
The endings of Chinese Handcuffs, Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, Running Loose, and Stotan! leave the reader with some unanswered questions. Chris Crutcher assumes the reader knows the ending, but he doesn't come out and say it. You take control and write the overview of one more chapter to these books. If there was one last chapter, what would it be about. How would you tie up loose ends, if you were the author?
If I were to write one more chapter in the book Running Loose, I would attempt to answer what Louie does after high school. At the end of the book, he graduates from high school and wins his track meet against Washington, and that's where it leaves off. With how much success he had in high school and the troubles he faced, I'd want to show how he completely heals from his girlfriend's passing and explain how he moves on, if he went to college on a scholarship, moved out of his small town in Idaho, or went on to pursue other things he had his mind on.
ReplyDeleteFor my book, I felt slightly similar to you. I would answer more about what the main character of my book, Eric, is doing after high school. The book did touch up on it a little, but if I had a whole other chapter to end this book, I would expand deeper on the effects of the previous events in the book. How would that affect his life as well as the other characters, even if they all may be happy now? I would like to show how Sarah heals from her father's abuse, like how you would want to expand on the healing of the passing of Louie's girlfriend.
DeleteI like that you want to show what Louie does after high school and how he deals with his girlfriend’s death. It makes sense to show if he goes to college, leaves his small town, or does something else he’s interested in. I also like that you want to show him actually healing and moving forward instead of just leaving the story at the track meet. It would be really cool to see how all the things he went through in high school help him make decisions about his future and who he’s going to become.
DeleteI would also like to write about how he spends his life after high school, most importantly I would like to see how he handles Becky's death.
DeleteI agree with you Levi, I am curious about Louie's future after high school as well. I hope he does well in college and wonder what his future looks like.
DeleteIf i were the author i wouldn't end my books so abruptly, as a reader it felt frustrating to have not even a half baked ending in the middle of a significant plot point. it honestly felt like the author hit a deadline and had to just publish the book before it was finished. the ending isn't an ending, it's a cut and i think it's sloppy. actually make a cohesive closure in a piece of work you spent a lot of time on. If i could rewrite a chapter it would definitely be the last two of them. it was trying to bring in a big scary action scene and then called it a media spectacle. i teenage boy getting stabbed after someone snuck into his car is not something to be celebrated. i felt there was a lot that could be improved on a writers standpoint.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the ending of Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes was abrupt. However, I think the epilogue tied up the book better than the very last chapter did. While the Epilogue still left questions for me. Like, how is Sarah feeling on a deeper level? It is kind of implied through Eric's words and the newspaper, but I would have liked to learn more about Sarah's life after her father was arrested.
DeleteI agree with the sudden ending of Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes Book. It really does feel like Chris Crutcher was rushed because the fast part was all crunched into the last about sixty pages of the book. I do think there is parts of the book that could be improved in the writing style particularly in the beginning one hundred pages, but overall I do enjoy Chris Crutcher's writing style.
DeleteIf I were to write one last chapter of Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, I would write more about the continuation of the relationships between Eric and Jody, Eric and Sarah, Sarah and Lemry. I feel like the epilogue did a good job at wrapping up the story of Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. But if I had to, I would take that last chapter and detail how the characters have been doing since Virgil Byrnes was arrested and Lemry and her husband adopted Sarah. I would detail more about how Sarah was feeling rather than Eric, even though I know Eric is technically the main character. I felt like Sarah's ending was not expanded upon enough. I wanted to know a lot more about how she was feeling. If their lives had gone back to normal, because I know that Sarah will likely still have issues despite her father being locked away and having been adopted. That is a lot for one kid in such a short period of time. So that very last chapter, I would focus on feelings, relationships, Sarah, and how she has been coping.
ReplyDeleteI kind of feel similarly about the book I read, Stotan!. I think it would have been cool to hear Jeff's side of the ending of the story because his friends wen tout and did really good at state for him even though it was hard for them to leave Jeff. I feel like it would have been nice to hear Jeff's perspective of the whole thing and kind of hear his side of the story and how he found out how the other boys did at state.
Deleteyea i wish the books did not end with us trying to come up with what happens next and leave us with a bunch of cliff hangers
DeleteI think that if I was writing the ending of this book I also would want to write about the relationship between Lemry her husband and Sarah, I think that this relationship was very skimmed, and should have received more attention than it did in the story. I also believe that they should have expanded on Sarah's story. I think that they would have been able to talk more about her heartache and hurt throughout the end of the book as well as if she ever had her reconstruction surgery as it would have detailed the change in character that she experienced.
Deletewith such a complex character it would be difficult to properly delve into her recovery without at least some knowledge of child and trauma phycology. but i definitely agree later character development should of been a huge focus for the end of the book.
DeleteIf I were to write one more chapter in the book Running Loose, I would write about what Louie does after the ending and how he continues to deal with Becky’s death. The reader doesn’t know what comes next, so I would show whether he goes to college on a track scholarship or decides to leave the small town. I would also explain how he begins to move forward, and learning how to live with the loss. This final chapter would show his future while still showing that he is growing, and finding a way to move on.
ReplyDeleteI read the book Stotan! and I feel the same about my ending, one of the boys in the friend group, Jeff, is really sick but it doesn't explain what happens next. I wish that it would have displayed what happened after their senior year, where the boys all went to college, if Jeff pushed through with his blood disease, and how the friend group reacted to it all.
DeleteI also agree that I would explain more about Louie deals with the loss of Becky and how he lives out the rest of his life because it ends without any clarification on any of that.
DeleteI agree with you. I don't think Chris necessarily left Running Loose on a cliff hanger, however I do wish more was answered about his life after high school and how he delt with Becky's death, and if he even gets over it completely or not. I feel like it's a vital part of the book that's left out.
Deletei also agree it kind of left us wondering how it all ended but like Levi said it wasn't necessarily a cliff hanger
DeleteI hadn't thought about how Louie will continue to deal with Becky's death. I am curious if he grows past it completely or continues to hold her memory for the rest of his life.
DeleteIf I were the author of Stotan!, I would add a chapter of some sort of "happily ever after." The book ends with Walker finally saying he is going to set this straight with his girlfriend, Devnee, that he has been trying to break up with through the whole book because he is in love with Elaine. I think it would be a cool ending if it fast forwards a little bit and Walker says something like "Well, I finally did it...." and he is with Elaine, maybe if it would fast forward to graduation or them all leaving for college or something like that. That way we would have an idea of how everything turned out with Jeff and figure out how his sickness is, we would find out what is going on with Nortie, his dad, and possibly his mom, and we would find out about Walker and his girl dillema.
ReplyDeleteI like how you want to add a happily ever after chapter and show what happens with Walker. It kind of represents Running Loose, since that book also leaves a lot of questions about what Louie does after the story ends. I think it would be cool to fast forward to graduation or leaving for college and see how everyone’s life turns out, because it would give the reader a little more enjoyment out of the book.
Deletei think its crazy how walker picked devnee to be his girlfriend
DeleteI agree with your idea of a happy-ever-after ending. I read the book, Chinese Handcuffs, and I wish it had a more happier ending as well.
Deleteabsolutely, a chapter to wrap up everything that was left open with jeffs health and walkers relationship troubles
Deletefor the ending of the book stotan it left the results of the swimming meet and jeffs health condition open so if i wrote a chapter it would be about that
ReplyDeleteIf I were to write one more chapter in the book Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, I would write about how Eric and Sarah would both be in a better and safer place physically and emotionally. Sarah would no longer be under her father’s control and there would be her beginning to rebuild her life and possibly even starting to open up more to others besides Eric. It wouldn’t be the perfect ending but it would show real progress like Sarah gaining confidence and feeling a sense of freedom for the first time.
ReplyDeletethe one question I have for what happens next is, "What is Walker gonna do with Devnee? is he actually going to break up with her like he wanted to for so long? or is he gonna chicken out and continue his relationship based on lies for longer than he should? and if he does end things with her, how will she take it? is she going to take it gracefully and not freak out? is she gonna break down in tears? Is she going to go crazy and scream at walker? and what about jeff? Is he gonna make it or is he gonna die? there's a lot of things i wonder for after the events of the story and unfortunately none of them are gonna be anwered.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to add a chapter to the book Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes I would have moved the information Chris Crutcher added in the epilogue and make that a separate chapter. I would then have the epilogue jump time to a few years later and add another sentencing where the jury decides that Virgil should spend life in prison without parole. Then add information about the relationship between Lemry, Eric, and Sarah. I would also add the progression of Jody and Eric's relationship. I also think it would be interesting if eventually the enemy Mark turned into one of Eric's best friends. I also wish more would be said about Dale and his situation, and Sarah's biological mom and her situation. I feel like there was a lot of loose relationships not resolved at the end of the story, but overall this was a good book.
ReplyDeleteI also think that it would be interesting to have Mark and Eric become close friends. This friendship may provide good insights for both characters and the readers as they are such different people, so their personalities may bring more responses and sides out than we have previously seen. I also would like to have know more about Eric and Jody's relationship as they didn't say anything in the epilogue so it seems as though they may have split up. If this would have been the case I feel like I would be torn on if I want them to get back together or to keep she and Brittain together or make them be back together.
DeleteI agree! There were lots of major points in the book in which Crutcher gives little to no closure to, and I think that the points you bring up that should be given more closure are completely valid. What happened with Sarah's mom at the end of the book and what exactly happened with Dale at the end? These are all things we don't get closure on in the book.
DeleteIf I were to write one more chapter to Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, I would take the time to talk more about Ms. Lemry and how she ends up while simultaneously writing if Sarah actually decides to go to the shelter in Kansas to escape. I also would write more about Jody and Eric and what happened with them if they ended up together. If I was Chris, I would also outline Mr. Byrnes sentance, how he did in prison and how long he ended up in prison. I believe that I would also have Sarah's mom come back to talk to both Sarah and Mr. Byrnes and try to mend the relationship. After mending those relationships, I would try to explain if Mark Brittain stayed somber and sorry or if he reverted back to his old ways. This would fully depend on if I chose for him to talk to Ellerbys dad. I believe that I would take out the epilougue and end with my chapter. I do not feel like the epilougue added much to the story and would able to easily take this section out.
ReplyDeleteI like the adding more about Ms. Lemry and Sarah possibly going to the Kansas shelter would change the emotion of the story and show what healing actually looks like for her. Continuing on Eric and Jody’s relationship also makes sense since readers get invested in them but don’t fully see how things turn out. Including Mr. Byrnes sentence and what happens to him in prison would make the consequences feel more real and complete.
DeleteIf Stotan! had one last chapter, it would probably take place a few months later and show Walker starting to come to terms with everything that happened especially losing his mom and dealing with Jeff’s death. He might go back to the lake but instead of training hard he’s just thinking about what being a Stotan really means not just being tough, but being honest, caring about people, and pushing through hard stuff in life. The chapter could also briefly show how the other guys are doing, like Nortie becoming more confident and Lionel still struggling but not feeling as alone, while Walker reflects on Jeff and how his life affected all of them. Walker might even imagine one last conversation with his mom helping him accept that she’s gone but still with him in a way. It could end with him diving into the water again not to prove anything, but to show he’s ready to move forward, which helps wrap up the story without explaining everything directly.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty relatable to how I feel about the book Running Loose. In Running Loose, the main character Louie also deals with a sudden death of someone he loved and cared about. I also would like to answer if Louie ever moved on after his tragedy, just like you want to know if Walker is starting to come to terms with the lose of his mom and Jeff.
Deletei dint read yours befvore i wrote mine but ours are very close and share the same topics between them
DeleteI agree i think this would be a good ending to the book and a good wrap up. I think that they will carry on swimming just to help deal with their problems they have during their lives and continue to be a Stotan throughout their life.
DeleteI think if there was another chapter in this book it would be about how things were going in the future after they graduated high school. I wish the book would have went further into there lives after all the things that went down in Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. Especially since Sarah's dad finally got put in prison for what he has done. After the part of Mark Brittan apologizing it makes me wonder what he is doing in his future.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you said about the ending of the book Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. I wish that they talked more about Mark and his future of what he decides to de be accountable or revert back to his old ways. I also wish that they went back into how Sarah's life evolved hopefully for the better after she got adopted by the Lemrys.
DeleteI like how you bring up the idea/question of what Mark Brittain is doing in his life after he apologizes to Lemry's CAT Class. It really makes you think about how he potentially turned his viewpoint/stance on life around and what exactly he is doing now.
DeleteI like how you focus on what happens after high school because it gives the story more closure and how the characters will grow. Seeing how Sarah moves forward after her dad goes to prison would add a lot of emotion. It would also be interesting to see if Mark truly changes or falls back into old habits.
DeleteIf I was the author I would make the last chapter about how Louie dealt with Becky's death. I'd make it so he eventually made peace with it because he's a good person and I believe he doesn't deserve to carry that around for the rest of his life. It leaves you with a lot of unknows about how he decides to spend the rest of his life so that's what I would cover in the last chapter.
ReplyDeleteGrief in such a large scale tends to follow someone around for the rest of their life, it would be super interesting to see how someone would write how it effected him at the longest terms of his life.
DeleteI like your idea because it connects to my book, Chinese Handcuffs. Dillon also goes through a lot of guilt and emotional pain, and he struggles with how to move forward. Just like Louie, he doesn’t deserve to carry that forever. I think both characters show how important it is to eventually find peace and figure out what to do next to move on in life.
DeleteI like that idea a lot. Leaving you hanging with a lot of unknows isnt the best.
DeleteIf I were to write one more chapter to Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes, it would be about what happens with Dale as he gets older and how his relationship with Sarah/Eric ends up. As the reader, you don't really get any true closure as to what happens to Dale at the end of the story. Crutcher brings up many other things about other characters, such as how Eric is going off to college to continue swimming for 4 years and how Lemry and her husband adopted Sarah Brynes, but we don't get to learn about anything related to Dale. I think it is a loose end that should definitely be tied up, and is what I would write about in the last chapter of the book if it were to exist.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Dale is definitely a loose end in the story. It would be interesting to see how he changes as he gets older and what happens with his relationship with Sarah and Eric. Adding that would make the ending feel more complete.
DeleteIn Running Loose if there was another chapter i would write it about what Louie did after high school. like if he want to collage and how he delt with Becky's death. throughout the book he talked about leaving the town he lived in. so it would be nice to know if he did eventually leave or if he stayed around.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, at the end of the book they just left you empty handed on what he was going to do after school
DeleteIf there were one more chapter in Chinese Handcuffs, i think it would focus on what happens to Dillon after everything he’s been through. In this final chapter, Dillon would finally start to heal from his trauma and begin to understand that what happened wasn’t his fault. It could show him talking with someone he trusts, like a counselor or a friend, and starting to rebuild his life. I would also tie up ends by showing how his relationships change, especially with his family, and give the reader a clearer sense that he has hope for the future. The chapter wouldn’t make everything perfect, but it would show that Dillon is moving forward and getting stronger.
ReplyDeletei would also add dillion finding someone he trusts so that he can talk about his problems.
DeleteThat would be a very good ending.
DeleteThat ending would fit the book perfectly. I believe dillion would find a lot of closure if he where to go talk to a counselor.
Deletei would also like to see him improve in his athletics Aswell
DeleteIn Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes one more chapter could show what happens to Sarah after she begins her new life with Ms. Lemry, focusing on how she continues to heal and adjust to feeling safe. it could also show Eric fully moving on, becoming more confident and no longer defining himself by his past. I would tie up loose ends by showing how their friendship grows in a healthier way and how they both move forward with their futures
ReplyDeleteI like your idea because it focuses on both Sarah and Eric moving forward. Showing Sarah healing with Ms. Lemry and Eric gaining confidence would be a really good way to wrap things up. It also makes sense to show their friendship growing in a healthier way as they both move on.
DeleteIf I were to write one more chapter for the book Running Loose I would talk about Louie's life after he finishes high school. His senior year was a an absolute curveball of events starting right away, but he ends with a peaceful mind and attitude relieving himself of everything of all the grief and sorrow. I would write about what he does in college and what sports he is still playing because after reading this those are my biggest questions.
ReplyDeleteI think this would be a good ending for the book and i think it could double with my book Stotan because they are also seniors in high school.
DeleteChinese handcuffs ended by showing dillion starting to turn realize some of his problems weren't his fault and Jennifer is finally safe. If i was to write one more chapter for Chinese Handcuffs it would be about dillions finding someone to be their for him whether that's a girlfriend or a best friend so that he can trust someone to talk to. I would tie up the loose end on jennifer by showing her starting to heal.
ReplyDeleteChinese handcuffs ended with Dillon helping Jen with getting away from who father. If there was another chapter I would make it about Dillon and Jens relationship growing stronger and start dating. I would like to see them get closer and Jen start to let her guard down and become more comfortable.
ReplyDeletei think that would be a good idea for another chapter and i think it would help both of them deal with their problems better.
DeleteI definitely agree because they both had some problems at the end
Deletei agree maybe just showing how happy theyve been
DeleteIf i were Chris Crutcher i would add one more chapter to Stotan and it would be a month or a couple weeks after the state swim meet. It would just be a good wrap up and it would include a funeral for jeff after he passes away. I think this would be good because it would pay respect to Jeff and it would give the guys some closure. I would also add something about Walker and Devnee because it would conclude a few things going on between them.
ReplyDeletei went a different rout with my ending but i feel as if this would still be a reasonable thing also
DeleteThis would be a good ending to the book, it would wrap the readers up on the whole Jeff thing.
DeleteYour idea for a final chapter makes sense because it gives Jeff the respect he deserves and gives the team real closure. Adding something about Walker and Devnee would also help wrap up their story and make the ending feel more complete.
DeleteI agree, I would also want to see how Louie would develop in his sports career. In terms of his future relationships I would be interested on how they turn out.
DeleteIf I were to add one final chapter, it would take place several months later and focus on how Walker is beginning to process everything he’s been through—especially the loss of his mom and Jeff’s death. In this chapter, Walker might return to the lake, but instead of training intensely, he’s there to reflect. He would think about what it really means to be a “Stotan,” realizing it goes beyond physical toughness and includes honesty, empathy, and the strength to face emotional pain. The chapter could also briefly revisit the other swimmers—showing Nortie growing more confident and Lionel still dealing with struggles, but no longer feeling isolated. is how i would write it because i feel as if that bring closer to the book
ReplyDeleteI agree, in the ending of Chinese Handcuffs it ends abruptly. I would also go about 3 months later and see how Dillion is processing all that has happened to him.
DeleteYour idea for a final chapter fits the book really well because it gives Walker a chance to slow down and actually deal with everything he’s been carrying. I like how you showed the other characters growing too, because it makes the story feel more complete. Your ending brings real closure without changing the honest, emotional style of the book.
DeleteChinese handcuffs finishes by giving closure to jennifer's situation and allowing dillon to finally move on, but it still leaves some things untouched. The book doesnt really touch on Dillon and Stacy's relationship after everything that happened or about Ryan at all, and while the book does state that dillon goes on to do more triathalons but never speaks about the Iron Man again. if i were to add another chapter to the book it would be a chapter going over these loose ends more cohesively.
ReplyDeleteIf i was to write one more chapter in Chinese Handcuffs, i would write about what goes on after TB is gone from Jen and Dillion's life. I would tie up on what stacey is up to and what she does with the child. Also i would go into more about Jen and how her basketball ends up.
ReplyDeleteI like this idea as well. I think that we should know more about Stacy's life after, as well as add in Jennifer and Dillon, maybe having a better relationship together.
DeleteI kind of said the same thing to add another chapter with to know what happens to all of them especially the step dad because that part just ended and moved on. I also wanted to know more about what jennifer stacy and dillon were doing now.
DeleteIf there were one more chapter in Running Loose, it would show Louie starting to heal after everything that happened, especially Becky’s death. He would go back to the bridge again, but instead of destroying the plaque, he would stop and realize that his anger isn’t helping him move on. This would show his growth and maturity. Louie might talk with Carter or Boomer, who has become more supportive, and understand that he’s not alone. he would begin to accept what happened and show he’s ready to move forward.
ReplyDeleteThese are all really good things, and i think he would have really grown as a person, friend, and athlete.
DeleteIf i were to keep the book running loose going, I would write another chapter on what Louie does after school. In the end he finishes his track career and graduates high school. With how much he did and how he was pretty successful in high school, I would show how he finished of healing with Becky's death and how all of the coaches treated him after school. I would also talk about if him and carter stayed friends after school and also what boomer ended up doing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone of these things. I had similar answers because i really wonder and think of what he will do in his free time in the summer. The Becky loss really hurt him and he thought of her all the time when he was bored so in the summer when theres no track, what will he do to occupy himself is something i wonder.
DeleteI read Running Loose and if there was one more chapter i would have made it about the life after Becky and how his summer goes. Also if he plays college football or runs track possibly. I would write about if he ever got in trouble or smashed the second Becky Sanders memorial. What his home life was like after the whole funeral and memorial smashing ordeal. Louie was just starting to get over things and kind of start over in a way. Lastly, i would like to see if he has a future relationship with coach Madison.
ReplyDeleteby the end of Chinese handcuffs Dylan finally realized that wasn’t his fault and then he can’t blame himself for everything that has happened in the past
ReplyDeleteSImilar to my book Running Loose, Louie began to grow from his mistakes and to really develop as a character.
DeleteIf Stotan! had one more chapter, it would show the guys coming back to the pool a few months later to talk about everything that happened. They would finally open up about Jeff and how his death changed them. Nortie would be in a safer place, and Lion would start planning what he wants to do after school. Walker would think about how Stotan Week made him stronger inside. The boys would do something small to honor Jeff, like leaving his goggles at the pool. The chapter would end with them walking out together, still hurting but knowing they will be okay.
ReplyDeleteIn Running Loose, an extra chapter could show Louie going back to school and trying to move on after everything that happened. He would still be sad about Becky, but he would start to accept it and keep living his life. It could also show him standing up to unfair people more, proving he has grown.
ReplyDeletei think that if i wrote a final chapter in Chinese handcuffs, id discuss where the main character is now, how his relationship is going with Jen and how hes improved his life since saving jen i wouldnt drag it out for to long just to not make the ending bad but i think a little mystery should be left in there just to leave the reader thinking.
ReplyDeleteI also picked a similar topic to happen. I think that Jennifer's and Dillon's relationship should become better, but I like the little mystery part as well.
DeleteIn Stotan! id make the last chapter just talking about how everyone has progressed as a person. for example I would say how Nortie went from being kind of a push over to him showing that he will stand up for what he believes when they swam the relay. Walker's progression as a leader for example when he got everyone locked in for Stotan week. I'd also highlight Jeff's life impacted the group and how staying with him while ill keeps the group together and him eventually having good news regarding his cancer.
ReplyDeleteChinese Handcuffs ends in a flee from danger, Jennifer is safe from her abuse, and Dillon has realized that the problems he made and thinks he made were not his own fault. If I were to write one more chapter after the fact, I would add that Jennifer and Dillon become a couple or together, they are both free from trouble. Jennifer would be there for Dillon to deal with everything together. If not Jennifer with him, maybe someone amazing, someone who could listen to Dillon and help him with his troubles. If I were the author, I would help tie up loose ends by adding a more caring character who could keep track of Dillon with his problems.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what the last chapter should be because at the end jennifer and stacy kind of left him and he really had no one left to talk to.
Deletein Running Loose if i was to add one more chapter i would write it about how Louie moved on from Becky's death, and have it talk about if he went on to leave his home town or not.
ReplyDeleteIf there would be one more chapter in the book running loose I would have Louie healing up and eventually going on to college to run track and the only reason he would do that is to support Becky just to help with some of his grief. I would see him leaving town just because all of the people hating on him and I could see them trying to get him in more trouble for breaking Beckys monument. I can Invision Louie doing big things in college because he would have more drive and would not have people bothering him and being mean to him. I think he would live a free life and just run free and thats why I would call the book running loose.
ReplyDeleteIn chinese handcuffs I felt like the ending was more bland and did not solve some of the problems. It left some unsaid like where her stepdad is and what happened with the cops. I would add a last chapter it would be more about dillons family since him and his dad said they want to become a family again, I think it should also speak more on what happened after they told the cops.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to add one more chapter to Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, it would show what happens to Sarah after everything with her dad is finally out in the open. I would include her starting to feel safer and maybe getting help so she can begin to heal. It would also show how her and Eric’s friendship continues and how they support each other moving forward. I’d want to show Sarah slowly getting back to being herself again, but also changing in a stronger way. I would also include what happens to her dad so the reader knows he can’t hurt her anymore. The chapter could show how other people at school start to understand Sarah better too. I’d tie it together by showing how the past still affects her, but doesn’t control her anymore. It would end with a hopeful feeling, showing that things can get better even after everything she went through.
ReplyDelete
