I chose the book, " The Maze Runner", because i heard that it was a good book and i was having trouble picking a book. I had the series at home and needed to start a book anyway so i said why not and started reading it. I started reading it and I really liked it from the beginning because there is always something happening, always questions that need to be answered. I would say that I'm hooked on this book, Its been a good book so far very interesting keeping me drawn to it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting read! Action-packed books are always fun to read and most definitely keep you drawn to the story. I felt this way with the first book we read, "Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes" by Chris Crutcher because the middle to the end of the story was super action-packed. Your current book sounds interesting so far though and I hope you enjoy reading it!
DeleteI really enjoyed reading this book and would gladly read it again. The plot hooks you in very quick and overall has a lot of action which makes it fun to read.
DeleteI am kind of the same way because I have a few books that I haven't read yet and are a series that I should probably read. I like when books always have something going on to keep me interested.
DeleteI read this a few years ago and i thought it was really good and really intense, and apparently the entire series is really good as well
Deletesounds like an interesting book.
Deletethe book I choose was The King in Yellow by Robert W Chambers. I chose this book because the idea of a collection of short stories that were inspired by the writings of Edgar Allan Poe and went on to inspire authors such as HP Lovecraft. i wanted a more of a challenge with me reading and comprehension skills by reading a book written and published in the 1890's. The process i went to find this book was looking through the catalogs of nearby libraries, finding absolutely nothing and so i had to buy a copy online. the first chunk of the book is an introduction, a telling of the author's life and the extensive history of this collection of short stories. with the effort I went to trying to find this book i feel it will be an enjoyable read.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds great! I like how you chose a book that is not only an interesting but challenging read! The book i am currently reading is all about mental grit and how it shapes us as people. Choosing a more challenging read is a great example of mental grit, keep up the great work!
DeleteIt is so cool that this book inspired people like H.P. Lovecraft. I respect his work so much. I have been trying to read Call of Cthulhu for a while now, but it's not easy. So, if this book inspired his work, I can only imagine it will be a challenging read. Good luck!
DeleteI chose the book "Ignite Your Grit" by Andrew Carbajal for multiple different reasons. Not only is this book written by our vice principal, which I think is extremely cool, but it is also regarding the topic of mental grit and how it can help you excel and succeed in life. Mental grit is a major deciding factor on whether or not you will be successful in life, and I think that is simply because being mentally tough is important for all aspects of life. For example, if you are a big and strong football player who is well-conditioned, if you are not mentally tough, you will not succeed. Carbajal goes into great detail with this subject by discussing how mental grit shapes who we are, and that is why I am so intrigued to read it.
ReplyDeleteThat is super cool! I did not realize that Mr. Carbajal wrote a book and it is super cool that you are reading it. This sounds like a pretty informative book.
DeleteThis would be a very interesting read. Its something very different and can help you in many ways.
DeleteThat's super interesting, I didn't know Mr. Carbajal wrote a book. It sounds like a good read. Hope you enjoy the book.
DeleteI chose the book "By the time you read this i'll be dead", I chose this book because I was told it was a good book to read. The process i took to finding this book was looking up good books to read as a girl. My initial thoughts were not the best, the book started off confusing, it starts in the middle of a school day on a bench outside. I am hooked as the book continues, it gives more details and stories explaining everything that gets confusing. At first i did not know she couldnt talk or why but they slowly said why.
ReplyDeleteI have heard about this book before and wanted to read it. It sounds very interesting overall. Even thouugh your inital thoughts were not the best, i hope the book becomes less confusing and turns out to be a good story.
DeleteSounds Like it would be a good read, it sounds like it might be interesting especially as the book goes on hope the read gets easier as it goes on.
DeleteThis book seems quite interesting based on what you have told our group during our group discussions. I would probably have a hard time getting into the book similar to what you have explained, but overall this sounds like a good read and wouldn't be opposed to reading it.
DeleteI chose the book Night By Elie Wiesel, i chose this book for a few different reasons. The main one is because this was my number one choice for novel two and i did not get it. I was intrigued by it because it is about the holocaust. I have always found the holocaust interesting because it seems like every time you read something about it you find a new side of aa story or a new detail you didn't know before. So far I like the book and what has happened in it so far is Elie has been taken by Nazi's and put in a concentration camp. He fights to survive everyday while struggling to eat enough to stay strong enough to be able to work.
ReplyDeleteThis was my next choice for my third book, I wanted to learn more about the history of being in a concentration camp. The holocaust also interests me very much so i'm sure I would have liked reading this book as well.
DeleteI also am reading this book and I also find it interesting to read about the holocaust and Elie's experience being in the concentration camps.
DeleteI read this book for book #2, i think you will really enjoy reading it if you're interested in the Holocaust
DeleteI could see why someone would chose this book. Based on the general plot of the book and especially the time period, this would be a great book in my opinion.
DeleteI chose the book Night by Elie Wiesel. I picked it because it’s about the Holocaust and I wanted to learn more about what people went through. I also heard it’s really powerful even though it’s not that long. I found this book by looking at our class choices and thinking about what kind of story I wanted. I decided to pick something real instead of fiction, and this one seemed interesting and important. At the start, it talks about Eliezer’s life before everything gets bad. It seems normal at first, but you can tell something serious is going to happen. It already has my attention because I know it’s based on a true story.
ReplyDeleteNight by Elie Wiesel is a great book, and an awesome choice. I read Night for my second book this trimester and it's been my favorite book thus far.
DeleteThis book does a very good job at showing what people went through during the holocaust, and is an excellent choice
DeleteThe book that I chose to read is the book Night by Elie Wiesel. I chose this book because after listening to this as an option for book number two I was interested in it. At the beginning of the book the reader is introduced to the main character Elie, and his life at the moment. It then goes on to talk about Elie and his family getting deported to the ghettos and then to multiple internment camps, and the horrible treatment within the camps. I was not initially hooked to the book due to the fact that it was all a little confusing, but when they talk about the treatment within the camp it is more interesting to me because I like comparing the treatment between the camps, but it is obviously hard to read about the abuse and hell the prisoners are put through.
ReplyDeleteI was so close to doing this, too, because I really wanted to read Night. I decided against it, and I'll probably read on my own sometime. Instead, I chose another book about the Holocaust. I had been looking at it for a while. It is cool that some of us are still reading about these topics from the last novel. I am super interested to hear more about Night, though, and what comparisons we can make since our books are over the same event,
DeleteI read night and its definitely worth the read its very informative and interesting and short. I think its important for people too read it and see some of things that he wrote about that were happening during the holocaust.
DeleteThe book that I choose is "We Were Liars". This book is about The beautiful Sinclair family. its a group of 4 cousins who are called the liars. The main character is Cady who likes this guy named Gat, but Gat has a girlfriend. Gat and Cady kissed before and cady knows about his girlfriend. One day Cady had an accident and suffers from PTH which stands for post tramatic headache. I choose this book because it sounded interesting.
ReplyDeleteI read We Were Liars and it is a very good book. There are a lot of turning points throughout the book which makes it very intriging.
DeleteI have read this book and it is very interesting and has a lot happening which keeps it intersting.
DeleteI choose the book Somewhere in the Darkness by Walter Dean Myers. I choose the book because it has a little war background so that interested me. I didn't really go through a process of choosing i just looked around and saw it and picked it. My initial thoughts are kind of all over the place since nothing really happened so far. It starts off by introducing the main character Jimmy Little and his mother. Im not really hooked so far but hopefully it gets better.
ReplyDeletesounds interesting I enjoy war as well hopefully your book gets better I wouldn't give up on the book yet.
DeleteI bet that the book will get better. It sounds like the book has a good possibility to be a pretty good one. My last book started out slow and not too interesting but it got better.
DeleteYour book sounds interesting so far, my last book started out very slow but after reading a little got better so i hope that is the same for you.
DeleteI picked Be Not Far From Me because I wanted a book that starts fast and actually pulls me in, and this one does exactly that. Right from the beginning, it throws you into Ashley’s world and the chaos she’s dealing with, which made me interested right away. The survival angle feels intense and real, and the writing makes it easy to picture everything she’s going through. So far I’m hooked, and I’m curious to see how she handles being stuck out in the woods alone.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very interesting and I enjoy a book that pulls you in as well. I don't enjoy books that start slow so this must be a good one. sounds to be a very intense book just by the little bit you have given me.
Deletemy book pulled me in at the beggining right away as well, they just threw the faamily straight into the shelter with no context to the life they lived before.
Deletethis book sounds like it would be a very good read. It seems to be very detailed and interesting.
DeleteI also agree that this book sounds suspenseful and intense, like you said. I also agree with liking a fast start; my book does the exact same thing. I don't like too slow and too much background information.
DeleteI picked The Road because it had been on my list for a long time and i had always been intrigued by the nature of the story and the way Cormac McCarthy writes, using no quotation marks for dialogue and only referring to the main characters as man or boy. The book starts in a post apocalyptic, barren USA where almost all life on earth has been wiped out. A man and his son, live a nomadic lifestyle trying to survive with nothing but a shopping cart to hold their things.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a really good book choice. I have read The Road by Cormac McCarthy before, and the way it’s written definitely stands out. The no quotation marks thing is kind of weird at first. The beginning you described is exactly how I remember it it’s really dark and kind of unsettling, but it is for sure worth reading. The relationship between the man and the boy is what really keeps the story going, and it makes everything feel more emotional. But is also also a little odd how he doesn't use any names in the book to.
DeleteThat sounds like a really cool pick. I haven't read any of Cormac McCarthy's works, but my brother was reading Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, and from hearing him talk about it, if The Road is anything like that was, it'll be a great read
DeleteI chose the book Reach For The Stars by Dan McCool because its a book about the Iowa high school wrestling tournament and I chose it because I have many connections to it. I was looking for a book that I had a good connection to and was like the life I lived a couple months ago. The book really got me hooked by describing the noise of the place and it made me relive many moments just like the time I made the state semi finals. This book is really going great so far and its making me relive alot of moments.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty cool how closely you can relate to the book. I can also relate to the book i bet because i also made it to state. Sounds like it will be a pretty good book.
DeleteThat sounds like a really good book choice. It’s cool that you picked something you can relate to. I like how you said it reminds you of your own experience at the state tournament, especially making the semifinals since that is a big deal.
DeleteIt always makes reading a book easier when you can relate to it and is something you are interested in. Sounds like a great book choice especially trying to find something to hook you as a reader and this book sounds like it did that.
DeleteYour connection to Reach for the Stars is kinda like Ashley’s connection to the woods in Be Not Far From Me. Your book brings back the noise and energy of wrestling, and her book brings back memories of her past every time she hears or sees something in the forest. Both books make you relive moments that shaped you, just in totally different worlds.
DeleteThat sounds like a good book be you have there because you can relate to it a lot because you wrestle
DeleteIt is cool how you can relate to that book so well, I have also been on that stage of competing at state my sophmore year. I feel like writing a book about a sports season is one of the easiest topics because you never really forget the moments and feelings you felt during the ups and downs of that year.
DeleteI chose the book The Teacher by Freida McFadden. I chose this book because i have read many books by this author before and her books are very good. I enjoy the mysterious vibe behind all the books and you never get bored reading any of her books. The book starts off by indroducing 3 main characters: Eve, Nate, and Addie. Eve and Nate are both married hs teachers and Addie is a student. So far, many of their secrects have been unfolded and i am excited to see how the rest of the book goes. Overall, this book had me hooked since the beginning and i am excited to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an intteresting book. That author seems very mysterious.
DeleteI am reading The Way I Used To Be, your book sounds similar in the idea that many secrets have been unfolded. I think that the mysterious vibes of your book would also connect with my book as they are not only being made and affecting the same people but also affecting those around them, so I feel like it is never super clear on who will all be affected by their decisions. I am also excited to keep reading my book!
DeleteI chose A Rebel in Auschwitz by Jack Fairweather. I chose it because I had been eyeing the book so hard the entire trimester, every time I was in the library. That is how I knew that would be the book I chose for the individual novel. It is about one of my favorite topics when it comes to books, history. Specifically, WWII history. Just when I think I know everything about WWII and the Holocaust, there is always more to learn, and that's why I picked it. When I look for books, I just think about what interests me the most, or what authors I know or have heard of. Initially, I thought the book would start off boring, because most books do, especially when it is related to history. I was wrong. I was so hooked from the introduction to the point that reading all of the background information in the beginning was interesting. The intro to the books just talks about a man named Witold, a Polish soldier. It goes over his life with his family before the German takeover. Then it immediately jumps into action with Witold fighting with the Polish army to maintain Poland's independence. Then he decides to willingly submit himself to Auschwitz, a death and work camp, to start an uprising to fight Nazi Germany. It's extremely interesting, and to my surprise, a true story.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy reading books not just about history, but specifically about the holocaust and WWII, one book I really enjoyed reading was "Making Bombs for Hitler," your book seems interesting and I can't believe it was based on a true story!
DeleteI am reading the book Night which is also placed in Auschwitz and during WWII. I also like learning the harsh reality of history. Your book also seems very interesting am maybe I will read that book as well.
DeleteI chose the book "A Court of Frost and Starlight" because it is the next book in the series I was reading. I didn’t have any struggle with deciding to read this book, the only thing that would have stopped me was if Mrs. Broadbent turned it down. Originally, I started reading this series because a friend recommended it to me. This book is about two realms, one faerie and the other human and some characters want to keep them separated and some characters believe they shouldn't be. The story also involves a sort of love triangle that isn't really a triangle anymore because the story has evolved so it was very interesting seeing where that was going to lead in the previous books. So far this is not my favorite out of the series, it has been moving slower than the previous books, but I think it is because something big is about to happen. I am hooked because I want to see where the book is going to lead.
ReplyDeleteI chose the book "The House Of My Mother" by Shari Franke. i chose this book because i watched the documentary and i found that very interesting so i decided to read the book as well. this book starts off by telling us about how Shari's parents met and got engaged early in the relationship. this book holds a lot of information and is going through her life little by little. i am hooked because the documentary also holds a lot of information but not as much as the book, i cant wait to see what more this book tells me.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very interesting book i have heard about it before.
DeleteI choose the book The Elephant Run by Roland Smith. The reason I choose this because when I read the back of it I liked how it sounded at the time. I thought it would be cool with war and the tribe that there in. The process to pick this book did not take me very long because I knew I wanted a book with history in it and when I found this book I knew I would hopefully enjoy it. One of the main reasons I picked this book was because it had to do with the war so I thought that it would be a cool topic. The book starts off with Nick living in London with his mom when a WWII starts so his mom sends him to live in this tribe with his dad. However, when he arrives things are strange. When he wakes up no one is there he spends some time looking for people but cant find anyone in the house. Nick then goes outside and sees a elephant and it ends up kicking him which almost kills him.
ReplyDeleteYour book The Elephant Run connects to Be Not Far From Me because both characters get thrown into danger fast. Nick gets hurt by the elephant and realizes something is wrong, and Ashley gets injured in the woods and has to survive alone. Both stories start with that sudden “everything just changed” moment that pulls you in right away.
Deletei chose the book Deep Water by Watt Key. i chose this book because someone told me it was good. the book starts off with the main character Julie and her father taking the Jordans out on a scuba diving trip. when they get to the spot the anchor pull and Julie and th Jordans lose the boat. this book has me hooked because of the constant suspense that something could happen as they float around in the ocean.
ReplyDeleteI have the same suspense because they are all just hanging around a fallout shelter, anything could happen
Deletei have also read this book it is a really good and interesting book.
DeleteI chose the book the compound by S.A. Bodeen because a friend recommended it to me, it's about a family who was forced into a fallout shelter that they made because of nuclear war. everyone but the main character Eli's twin brother survived and made it to the shelter. where i am right now the family has been there for 6 years now and the main character Eli is losing his mind, I hope the book becomes more interesting as time goes on.
ReplyDeletei really liked the book when i read it and the sequel book is also really book
DeleteThe third book I chose to read was Adrift by Paul Griffin, this book really stood out to me while I was searching for a book to read. I just looked around the library until something stood out and I didn't have any specific reason for this book. But I have read books similar to this so I figured I would like this one. My initial thoughts on the book are very good, it started off slow like most books but it had action very quick from the get go which really hooked me.
ReplyDeleteI like your choice, especially how you found it just by looking around and picking what stood out. That’s a good way to find new books, and it seems like it paid off since it hooked you pretty quickly. Even though it started a little slow, the early action makes it sound like it’s going to stay interesting as you keep reading.
Deletei agree with you on the slow start to your book mine was also like that but after the first 50 pages it really took off.
DeleteI chose to read the book If He Had Been with Me by Laura Nowlin. I chose this book because I had heard a lot of good things about it from friends. When I was looking for a book I went online and read the reviews about it and decided to read the back as well. The book starts by introducing the main characters who are Autumn and Finn. The beginning immediately caught my attention because it made me curious about what would happen between them. So far I am definitely hooked because the writing is emotional and easy to connect with.
ReplyDeleteMy book is also easy to emotionally connect with, making it easier and more intriguing to read. I've also had a few friends read this book so i'm excited to see where the books goes next.
DeleteThe book I chose to read is Return with Honor by Captain Scott O'Grady. Scott O'Grady was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. This book is about his experience being shot down over Bosnian territory and what he had to go through. I chose this book because I have a passion for military aviation as well as learning about history which this book touches on. I'm roughly 90 pages in and it's a great book so far, he's talked about how he got into the military in the first place and how he found his passion for flying.
ReplyDeleteI picked the book Nazi Hunters because I enjoy learning about history, especially World War II, and the idea of tracking down a Nazi criminal sounded interesting. To find my book, I looked through several options and read the summaries until I found one that stood out to me. I chose this book because it tells a true story about the search for Adolf Eichmann after the Holocaust. So far, the book starts off with important background about Eichmann and how he escaped after the war, and it immediately grabbed my attention because it feels suspenseful even though it is nonfiction.
ReplyDeleteyour book sounds like it is very good and one that i would love to read. i also love reading about history and ww2
Deletethat sounds like a good book. i enjoy hearing stories about wwII they are all very interesting and have me intrigued.
Deleteyour book sounds interesting because i like war book
Deletethis book sounds like a good read i would enjoy reading it especially because i just finished the book night a book that is also about nazis and world war 2. I would also like too see how they would track down Nazis after world war 2 especially one with such a high position like Adolf Eichmann.
Deletethis book sounds like a lot of fun to read i enjoy reading about those kind of events.
DeleteI chose the book The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris. I chose this book because I've seen the movie, and it is easily one of my favorites. I believe that the books are almost always better than the movies, so I decided I'd put that to the test. So far, I'm not disappointed. I'm not super far into the book at this point, but it wasted no time getting to the interesting bits. I am hoping that it gets even better as I continue reading
ReplyDeletei also chose my book because i really liked the movie but i disagree with you on the books being better than the movie
DeleteI like your choice, especially since you’re comparing it to the movie. That’s a smart way to read it, and it sounds like it’s already living up to your expectations since it starts strong and pulls you in right away.
Deletei picked the book old yeller i chose this book because i liked the movie and i wanted to see if the book matches the movie. i didn't really go through a process picking my book i just seen it while i was walking through the library. I'm almost half way done with the book and i really like it
ReplyDeleteI can see why a person would want to pick a book due to movie but most often times the book is better then the movie.
Deletei have also read books off of the movies
DeleteI am reading the book Baseball Genius by Derek Jeter. I picked this book because I love baseball and the first few pages seemed like it would be easy read. It is 330 pages but i have already really enjoyed this and have been hooked on the book since the start. I have read another book by Derek Jeter before and it was a good read so i thought this would be good and it has been so far.
ReplyDeleteI chose mine because I love football and the book description hooked me in, so in that sense we chose our two books for similar reasons.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI chose to read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins because I read the first book and wanted to continue the story. I also picked it because I knew it would keep my attention and had a lot of action but also deeper meaning. When I was choosing a book, I looked at a few options, but I decided to stick with something I already liked instead of risking a book I might not enjoy. So far, I’m on page 231 and I think the book is really good and more intense than the first one. It starts by showing how Katniss is dealing with the aftermath of the Games and the pressure from President Snow, which hooked me right away. As the story goes on, the tension keeps building, especially with the Victory Tour and the announcement of the Quarter Quell. I’m definitely hooked because there is always something important happening and the stakes feel higher than before. It also goes deeper into rebellion and how Katniss’s actions affect everyone else. I would recommend this book to others, especially if they like action but also want a story with more meaning behind it.
ReplyDeleteI chose the book Creg and Fred. This book is about a U.S. Marine who is deployed into Afghanistan to aid the afghans in defeating the taliban. But on his mission he stumbles across a dog. This dog was holed up in the first compound they settled. From then on Craig and Fred have been inseparable. But now comes the tricky part, Craig has to smuggle Fred onto the main U.S.M.C base due to one of the biggest rules the U.S.M.C. has, NO DOGS! And this is where i'm currently at. I chose this book because books about Marines have always peaked my interest, there is just something about the storytelling that makes me want to read more. The situations they find themselves in are so intriguing and always so action packed.
ReplyDeletethat sounds like a very good book and one i would want to read. i also enjoy books aboout marines and i like dogs.
Deletei chose to read hideout by watt key because i like to read survival books or books with suspense. so far I'm enjoying it and it has me hooked because Sam the main character likes to explore on his boat and one day he went down a path he doesn't usually go to where he found a hidden shack in the woods where another kid was living who is hiding or trying to run from someone.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a very interesting and good book. I like suspense books as well, that is why I am reading mine. The horror would be fun to read about keeping you on the edge of your seat.
DeleteI chose Night for a similar reason as you because we both picked books that sounded interesting and hook you early. You went with suspense and survival in Hideout and I went with a serious history story, but they both pull you in fast
DeleteThe book I chose is running loose by Chris Crutcher, I chose this book because I did not get to read it the first time around for class. It is a book about a boy who plays football and is setting himself up for a pretty good senior year until it suddenly all falls down in the blink of an eye. the first few pages aren't all that interesting but his conflicts with his teammates, coach, and himself through the first couple chapters made it a page turner for me.
ReplyDeleteMy book is the same, at first it was boring and not an easy read but the whole tempo of my book changed so quickly and now it's hard to put down.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteFor my last book, I chose The Haunting by Natasha Preston. I chose this book because it sounded interesting. I read one book from this same author, and it was very good, so I thought I would try this one out. This book was just from the library, so I started to look around for something good. I really think this book will be good. It starts off with a girl named Penny, and her family moves to a new home. The home is haunted because the first week Penny is there, she starts feeling uneasy, and unnatural things start to go on there. At this time in the book, I am hooked. She meets new friends at school, like Kai, but she still feels uneasy, unable to feel normal because of the experiences at home with the horrifying house.

DeleteFor the last book I chose Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover. I chose this book because I love her books and it's based on a teenage girl in high school named Beyah, that just lost her mom and now has to figure out where to live because she isn't in contact with her father. So far it's really enjoyable and I think it's gonna continue to be interesting throughout the rest of the book. What drew me into this book is that Beyah has to overcome big hurdles in her life at a young age and the problems she's dealing with are realistic.
ReplyDeleteJust as you did, I chose my book because of the age of my main character. I have found that I am better able to understand these books when I not only am the same gender as the main character but also the same age. I feel like it makes all of their issues seem more relatable if I am going through other milestones that they are. I also chose my book off of the hardships that my characters similar to you. My main character in the Way I Used To Be was raped by her brothers best friend, and the only person that she is close with in her family is her brother, so she has not been able to confide in anyone even though she is in the same house.
DeleteI chose to read The Grand Escape by Neal Bascomb. I picked this book because I’m interested in history, and the idea of a real escape story sounded exciting. To find my book, I looked through a few options and read the summaries, but this one stood out because it’s based on true events and focuses on teamwork and clever planning. So far, the book starts by introducing prisoners in a German camp and quickly shows how determined they are to escape, even though it seems almost impossible. It definitely hooked me early on because there’s already tension and you can tell something big is going to happen. My first impression is that it’s going to be both suspenseful and interesting, especially seeing how the prisoners work together to pull off their plan.
ReplyDeleteFor this reading I chose the book The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith. I chose this book because it has been in my to read pile for quite some time, it seemed intriguing to be because it involved the girl being raped and then her healing and deep grieving process. I also chose this book because the characters are in high school and it covers all four years which makes it more relatable to me. There was nothing super specific that made me choose this though, I just saw it on tik tok one day and decided that I wanted to read it. This book starts with the rape of the main character by her brothers best friend, and has since moved into discussing the hardships that she has faced and the major character changes in personality, and appearance that she has gone through so far. So far I am not super hooked, but I am curious of the personality that she will take on throughout the course of the novel as it has already changed drastically just in 20-30 pages.
ReplyDeletefor my book i choose wildlife by cynthia Defelice, i chose the book because i heard it was good and involved hunting. so far the book has me hooked with the main character erik having to moving from new york to north dakota to live with his grandparent while his parents are deployed
ReplyDeletethe third book that i chose is called Never Caught The Washingtons Relentless Pursuit Of Their Runaway Slave Ona Judge By:Erica Armstrong Dunbar. I chose it because in history class we only learn positives about how Geroge Washington was responsible for the country being founded, but not many negatives are taught. My initial thoughts are that it is pretty boring it doesen't feel like much of a story but more of a summarization. Nonetheless there is lots of background info that is definitely interesting. The book starts out talking about a lot of the slavery and Whitehouse background its all pretty slow but it is building up and becoming more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI chose to read Woodlawn because I like sports stories and wanted to learn more about racism and school adaption in the past. I heard the book was interesting and based on real events, so it sounded like a good choice. To find my book, I looked at different books and read a few summaries before choosing this one but really the librarian chose it for me. I wanted a book that was not boring and would keep my attention. Woodlawn stood out to me because it mixed football with important history. One reason I picked this book is because I like football, and I thought it would be cool to read about how sports brought people together during hard times. So far, I think the book is good. It starts by showing problems at the school when students are being integrated. There is a lot of tension right away, which made me want to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am hooked so far because I want to see what happens to the team and how the characters deal with the challenges they face.
